Pharmacotherapeutic group

Stimulator of digestion.

Composition of the preparation

One tablet contains acidin (betaine hydrochloride) – 200 mg, pepsin – 50 mg.

Pharmacological action

Pharmacodynamics Pepsin is one of the basic proteolytic enzymes of digestive tract. It is produced in cells of stomach mucous membrane in an inactive form as proenzyme pepsinogen which turns to active enzyme pepsin in gastric contents. Acts on the initial stage of proteopepsis in digestive tract; in acidic medium of gastric contents hydrolyzes proteins to peptides, there are also amino acids among hydrolysates. At рН5,0 causes milk coagulation. Acidin (betaine hydrochloride) promotes increase of acidity of gastrointestinal juice, creates optimum рНfor pepsin activity. 0,4 gbetaine hydrochloride correspond approximately to 16 drops of diluted hydrochloric acid. Pharmakokinetics Pepsin shows optimum activity at рН1,4-2,5; its activity decreases in case of рН increase, ceased at рНmore than 6. It is destroyed in a duodenum under action of pancreas enzymes. At introduction in a stomach betaine hydrochloride is easily hydrolyzed with release of free hydrochloric acid.
